One of the disturbing reports to come out of the constant attacks on civil rights during the COVID-19 pandemic came out of Michigan.

Michigan’s Governor Whitmer, called the “lockdown queen” by some of her critics, famously tried to forbid the citizens in her state from buying seeds and other “non-essential” items.

Before all the rioting and looting broke out – in other words, back when the news was telling us that protests could spread COVID-19, – there were protests during which legally armed citizens marched on the state capitol.

It came out recently that a political group that supports Whitmer and is against the protests used cell phone data to track the movements of the protesters.

That’s right: they used publicly available information from phones pinging cell towers to put hundreds of patriot protesters under surveillance.

But that’s not the worst of it, because under the guise of “contact tracing” for COVID-19 infections…

…The Government Might ALREADY Be Tracking Your Movements

In New York, the people now working for the state government’s “contact tracing” team – in the state that was the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic – admitted they aren’t asking people whether they participated in the George Floyd protests.

But you can bet those same tracers have put thousands of OTHER people under surveillance, using their phones.

It’s already happening overseas: Apple and Google have used updates to their smartphone networks to install contact tracing apps on user’s iPhones and Androids… without telling them.

These apps give the government the ability to track everywhere you go.

And don’t you DARE think they’ll stop at just “tracing infections,” because they’ve already admitted that not all “contacts” are equal.

(If they were, then anybody who attended any large protest would be “traced,” and that’s not what’s happening.)

In other words, using the cover of “public health,” they can tell if you’ve gone to the gun store… the shooting range… a political rally… and anywhere ELSE “Big Brother” might want to keep tabs on you.

This is an obvious power grab… but really, it’s just an expansion of what the Powers That Are were already doing.

Both “Big Tech” and “Big Government” work together every day to destroy our freedom, in fact.

We’ve seen examples of this in the way Facebook and other social media companies have censored LEGITIMATE information about COVID-19, flagging it as “spam” or banning it as violations of “community standards.”

Everywhere you look, they’re doing an end-run around the Constitution, infringing on our rights in the name of the “greater good” – and, lately, for public health – as if stopping you from buying seeds to plant a garden, or tracking your every move, will stop you from getting sick!

Before COVID-19, these power-hungry politicians were all excited about using “red flag” laws to take away your guns – again, without due process – and in Virginia, that’s just what they did, using the pandemic to seal the deal with minimal resistance from the public.

What this means is that in more and more states across the nation, all it takes is somebody accusing you of “thought-crime” – and then you’re guilty until proven innocent instead of the other way around as the laws are designed.

With nothing to stop them, the politicians and the Big Tech censors are going to keep on spying on you, manipulating you, and violating your Constitutional rights…

…all while telling you that it’s for your own good!

And thanks to government initiatives like The Patriot Act and all the new laws they’re passing now, you can be “red flagged,” rounded up, and held against your will as a potential “home grown terrorist” because of your beliefs — things like:

Believing in the 2nd Amendment
Storing away “survival food”
Buying more than 2 guns
Purchasing “excessive” amounts of ammo
Even comments you make on Facebook and Twitter!
And that’s not even the worst of it…

Your neighbors will actually be financially REWARDED to turn you in as a “suspect” if they know (or even THINK) you are doing any of these actions, because the government has set up “tip lines” so they can squeal on you.

If you see something, say something… right?

You already know about these threats, but what you might NOT know are the simple steps you should be taking… no, wait… that you MUST be taking… in order to protect yourself from these attacks on our rights and freedoms.

Don’t tell yourself that there’s nothing you can do.

Don’t just give up, or try not to think about it.

There are things we can do to stay off the radar.

We need to STOP giving our information to the government and to Big Tech.

It isn’t actually difficult to stop them from spying on you or “contact tracing” you.

Judicial Watch Asks DC Mayor for Permission to Paint ‘Because No One is Above Law!’ on Capitol Hill Street

Seeks Equal Access to New Free Speech Forum After DC Government Authorized Painting of Political Slogan on DC Street

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it has formally asked District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Attorney General Karl Racine for permission to paint “Because No One is Above the Law!” on a Capitol Hill street (Independence Ave, SW between 2nd and 4th Streets SW). The Judicial Watch message would be the identical size and coloring of the DC Government’s “Black Lives Matter” political message on 16th Street NW.

On June 5, 2020, after days of protests and riots in Washington, DC, Mayor Bowser authorized the painting of “Black Lives Matter” on 16th Street NW, and later allowed “Defund the Police” to be painted alongside it.

“Mayor Bowser made a decision to turn DC streets into a forum for public expression. Judicial Watch seeks equal access to use this new forum to educate Americans by painting our organization’s motto and motivation, ‘Because No One Is Above the Law!,’ on a Capitol Hill street,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This rule of law message is timely, as it a reminder that rule of law applies to – and protects – all Americans. If we are unlawfully denied access and face viewpoint discrimination, we are prepared to go to court to vindicate our First Amendment rights.”

The following is Judicial Watch’s June 10 letter to Mayor Bowser and Attorney General Racine:

Re: Request to Paint Message on Independence Avenue SW Dear Mayor Bowser and Attorney General Racine: We note with interest Mayor Bowser’s recent decision approving the painting of “Black Lives Matter” on 16th Street NW and the approval of and/or acquiescence in the painting of “Defund the Police” alongside the first message. Both messages are expressive activity. Judicial Watch, Inc. is a Washington, DC-based, non-profit organization headquartered in Southwest DC. For more that twenty-five years, Judicial Watch, Inc. has promoted transparency, accountability and integrity in government and fidelity to the rule of law.

Our motto is “Because No One Is Above the Law!” – a message that is particularly relevant today because it applies equally to law enforcement and public officials as well as to protesters, looters, and rioters. Because DC streets surfaces are now being used as public fora for expressive activity, we would like to have our motto painted on a street, preferably Independence Avenue SW, between 2nd and 4th Streets SW, which is near our offices. The lettering would be identical in size and color to the lettering used to paint “Black Lives Matter” on 16th Street NW.

Judicial Watch, Inc. would pay the cost of the painting, but we would likely need the assistance of the DC Government to aid in traffic diversion and parking restrictions while the painting is completed.

Of course, the painting could be completed when traffic is typically light, as was done with the “Black Lives Matter” message. As the timeliness of our message is important, please respond within 3 working days.

The Chinese Regime Is Not Legitimate

Hong Kong is caught in China’s coils, as Beijing crushes its life brutally and effectively as any python does its prey.  The “one country, two systems” model is reaching its anfractuous end with the new national security law imposed on Hong Kong.  What China is gaining is that Hong Kong will be brought under complete control.  As a consequence, Hong Kong cannot be a source of political unrest for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).  Nevertheless, what China lost is more considerable.  What Hong Kong and other malodorous actions taken by the CCP against human rights and religious freedom reveals that the CCP lacks political legitimacy.  It is important to remember this as the world commemorates the June 4^th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Political legitimacy requires explicit or implicit consent from the population.  China’s ideology rejects explicit consent from the Chinese people.  In actuality, China’s ideology is dangerously incoherent, and diehard Party members only believe the neo-Maoism of Xi Jinping.  Indeed, it is not clear that Xi is even seen as legitimate for many members of the CCP.  Thus, implicit consent, which is anchored on China’s economic performance, has been the pillar of the CCP’s support.  The tacit agreement was that the Party’s control, corruption, and misrule, would not be questioned in return for increasing wealth.  However, even before the Chinese—and the world’s—economy slows due to the consequences of COVID-19, there was ample reason to question the validity of the bargain.

With declining economic growth rates, the CCP cannot keep its side of the bargain, and tension will increase.  The Chinese people cannot resist the CCP’s misrule due to the headlock the Party has on Chinese politics.  The Chinese people are in a political labyrinth from which escape is impossible.  Protest cannot be funneled into a movement for political reform or democracy as the omnipresent modern surveillance state prevents protest movements from being successful other than in rare and local circumstances.  There is no hope of reform movement within the CCP, similar to Gorbachev’s glasnost and perestroika.  The Soviet experience is framed by the Party of an example of what it must never do.  Equally, there is no possibility of the Party moderating as long as Xi is in control.

The Party has lost legitimacy, and so it rules through its monopoly of power and intense and efficient control of the Chinese people.  But power and control cannot be the source of political legitimacy.  There are two major implications of this.

First, the regime knows it is not legitimate, and thus the desire to ever tighten its grip on Hong Kong, religious freedom, and its Tibetan and Muslim minorities.  This suppression will continue and is likely to worsen as the source of these crackdowns is rooted not in other actors, but in the Party itself.  The Party is hollow.  From its illegitimacy comes insecurity, and so repression flows.  But the world should not expect that this repression will cause significant unrest that could lead to political change.  This is due to the power of the surveillance state and ruthlessness in suppressing individuals and movements, which might blossom into viable political alternatives.  The world should lament the suffering of the Chinese people, and lamentation should be followed by action to aid China’s population.

Second, the CCP’s China should not be treated as a legitimate regime.  It is not a normal state operating within the bounds of accepted convention.  Undeniably, the CCP is in control of China now and in the foreseeable future.  But the United States and the rest of the international community should not allow the CCP to bolster its claims to be the legitimate government of China.  The Chinese people must determine the political legitimacy.  If given a choice, they would likely prefer the government of the Republic of China or another form of representative democracy.

As the CCP rejects popular consent, the international community must treat them as beyond the bounds of acceptable international political conduct and outside international society.  Accordingly, the world should view the CCP as akin to the apartheid regime in South Africa.  Many measures were taken to isolate the South African regime, for example, entertainers boycotted South Africa.  With China, a multifaceted approach is required and will include boycotts but also minimizing diplomatic contacts, removing Beijing from international and nongovernment organizations, decoupling the world’s economy from China.  This will require significant changes for many states for whom China is the leading investor and provider of infrastructure and development.  In response, those opposed to the CCP should ensure that the alternative forms of infrastructure and development, through the World Bank or bilateral approaches like Japan’s Asian Development Bank, are preferred.  No state should participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, and those who are, including European states and other U.S. allies, should recognize that they are complicit in aiding an illegitimate polity.

It is time for the world to hold the CCP to account.  The CCP keeps power through its security apparatus, advanced information systems, and fear.  The world may not be able to change the CCP, but it can identify the regime as illegitimate and increase the cost of their rule.  It should be united in supporting the liberation of the Chinese people from the CCP and foster its replacement by a legitimate regime.

Doesn’t Matter

All police, whether good intentioned, well being’d, religious, self-aware, etc. know going into academy and then their respective duty locations that they will be commanded to perform illegal moves on a daily and continuous basis, right down to the now, not so lowly anymore traffic stop.

I’m not going into details here because that’s for another time and doesn’t fit into the parameters of this post.

If they refuse, which none do, they face a myriad of disciplinary actions from write-ups, permanent record notations, various forms of disciplinary actions, layoff, suspension and loss of job all the way possibly to contempt of court convictions. It is for that reason, regardless of how good that person is inside and out, they are all, and I repeat this, ALL, PART of the problem rather than the solution.

The entire police model is currently flawed and flawed big time and most of it has to basically do with the fact that the model is dealing with flawed and biased people who patrol their own kind. When I say flawed and biased, what I mean is that all of us, ALL of us, including you and I, are biased and flawed. Simply using humans to have the complete control they do, and believe me, the para-military police have some of the utmost control of power on the planet and way, way more than people realize, the model itself starts off right at the onset wrong.

I am not suggesting a solution because I have none. It’s an extremely difficult position. What I am suggesting however is that society begin to look at it beginning with that angle. Just start from there, but NO ONE has EVER suggested that out of fear for even simply bringing that issue up. I don’t fear it. I am promoting it.
